“My joke these days is that my two big interview “gets” are Kim Jong-il and Anna Wintour. Actually, I don’t know which one is harder to get.”

Alina Cho, national correspondent for CNN, Emmy-award winning broadcast journalist who once provided coverage from North Korea (via New York Times)

I’m so excited to be watching her brilliant new fashion segment on February 19th at 2:30pm. It may not be “Style With Elsa Klensch,” but the world of 2011 is completely different from the world of 1993.

+1 for smart, brave, and stylish Asian American journalists who know their politics and culture, and understand the importance of both. You all inspire me.

Funniest thing I’ve seen all night.

THIS SHOULD SCARE YOU.

Damn, (United States of) America - what happened? /Kevin Gnapoor

I really am sorry to my followers who have to put up with all of the politics posts at the moment, but God, is this depressing or what?

How…?

Thank God my little nook of California still has some sense.
In the words of my friend, Tara: “we gave the republicans 8 years to tank our economy, plunge us into debt & international conflict, repeatedly threaten civil liberties. we couldn’t give the democrats 2 years—2 years of constantly thwarted legislation for the sake of party politics & at the expense of the wellbeing of our people—to fix things. 2 years & we pull back the party which lost us 4 million jobs, took us to war, treated us like children.”

“We must never forget those who we lost so tragically on 9/11, and we must always honor those who led the response to that attack -– from the firefighters who charged up smoke-filled staircases, to our troops who are serving in Afghanistan today. And let us also remember who we’re fighting against, and what we’re fighting for. Our enemies respect no religious freedom. Al Qaeda’s cause is not Islam -– it’s a gross distortion of Islam. These are not religious leaders -– they’re terrorists who murder innocent men and women and children. In fact, al Qaeda has killed more Muslims than people of any other religion -– and that list of victims includes innocent Muslims who were killed on 9/11.”

Great speech to read. Although, I gotta admit — who transcribed this speech? Some sentences are spaced out by two spaces and some sentences are spaced out by one space. The perfectionist in me had to go back and edit the spaces. Does anyone still use two spaces?

SuChin Pak interviews Kim Jong Il, played by Danny Cho. Absolutely brilliant.

    “Uhh, I’m not Connie [Chung].”

    “I’m kind of supernatural…y’know?”

“All presidents kill people.” That actually hit the truth in a way.
